Body Art practices include physical body adornment by means of tattooing, body piercing, or permanent cosmetics. The construction, permitting, and operation of Body Art establishments, as well as the licensing of artists, are regulated under the authority of O.C.G.A. 31-3-6 and O.C.G.A. 31-4-20.
Below you will find links to all requirements and applications for body art studios and their artists. If you have further questions, please contact your local Environmental Health Office.
Please note that the requirements for permitting a Body Art Studio include submission of the following:
- A completed Body Art Establishment Permit Application
- A list containing the full names and exact duties of all staff that will be working in the body art studio
- At least three copies of a detailed floor plan (8 1/2″ by 11″ minimum, drawn to scale)
- Payment of all applicable fees
- A fully completed Verification of Residency for Public Benefits Application

Please note that the requirements for obtaining a Body Art License include submission of the following:
- A completed Body Art License Application
- Certificates indicating the successful completion of Basic First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens/Universal Precautions trainings
- A photo ID
- Payment of all applicable fees
- A fully completed Verification of Residency for Public Benefits Application
