GreyStone Contributes $10,000 for Children’s Safety

The Douglas Health Futures Foundation (DHFF) Board, in partnership with the Douglasville Police Department, hosted more than 80 Douglas County officials and local business leaders Wednesday morning for their 4th annual breakfast. The event focused on promoting awareness of the Foundation and its mission to provide financial, fundraising, and advocacy support for Douglas Public Health, and to improve outcomes for children’s health.

During the breakfast, the attendees heard from several speakers including Chief Gary Sparks, City of Douglasville Police Department; DHFF Chair Greg Williams, Kaiser Permanente; former DHFF Board Member Nadia Faucette, GreyStone Power Corporation; and Dr. Janet Pak Memark, Cobb & Douglas Public Health.

The purpose of the breakfast remains three-fold: (1) to advocate for public health programs that receive little to no government funding, (2) to express gratitude for the ongoing support received from local partners and businesses, and (3) to raise funds for screenings and injury prevention education and equipment for low-income families and their children who might not otherwise receive care.

A highlight of the event was to hear from Gold-Level Sponsor representative, Nadia Faucette regarding her experience as a previous Children 1st client and to celebrate GreyStone Power’s $10,000 support for children’s safety!  Another highlight was a panel discussion moderated by DHFF Board Member Shandron Pemberton, CEO of POSolutions. The panel shared different ways individuals and organizations can work together to help Douglas County children reach optimal health.  Members of the panel included: Pastor Paul Hobson, United in Christ Christian Church; Melanie Manley, Douglas County School System, and Jasmine Richardson, a recent Douglas Public Health client.
