The Douglas Health Futures Foundation (DHFF) Board, in partnership with the Douglasville Police Department, hosted Douglas County officials and local business leaders Tuesday morning for their 2nd annual breakfast. The event focused on promoting awareness of the Foundation and its mission to provide financial, fundraising, and advocacy support for Douglas Public Health and – with the support of their partners – to improve outcomes for children’s health.
The theme for DHFF’s fundraising focused on the importance of local businesses working together with public health organizations to promote access to health and wellness care in underserved communities, especially for children.
“Douglas Health Futures Foundation continues to champion at-risk programs with little funding, because they have a huge impact on the health outcomes for the residents involved in those programs,” said Douglas Health Futures Foundation Board Chair Dr. Suvess Ricks. “With the help of our partners, we raise funds for screenings, injury prevention and equipment to low-income families and their children who might not otherwise receive care – and that’s why we’re so grateful for the support we receive from our local partners and businesses.”
During the breakfast, the Douglas Health Futures Foundation Board of Directors presented Safe Kids Douglas, Children 1st, Children’s Medical Services and Babies Can’t Wait programs with commemorative checks pledging funds from the generous donations of community leaders and local establishments that act in the interest of public health and invest in the future of the communities where they do business.
