Cobb & Douglas Public Health, in partnership with the Live Healthy Douglas Coalition and other community partners, is proud to host the 15th annual Power in Truth Conference on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 for the prevention of youth substance abuse.  The conference is held in Douglasville each year, and is designed to empower Douglas County middle and high school students to resist underage drinking, tobacco use and all other substance abuse.

“Prevention is the primary focus, particularly for the youth audience, with emphasis on empowering youth to resist media manipulation and peer pressure,” commented Wende Parker, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Director with Cobb & Douglas Public Health.

The conference will be held at the Central Baptist Church of Douglasville from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and is a Douglas County School approved field trip.  The cost of the conference is free, but does require registration.

Parents, educators, public officials and the community-at-large are invited to attend and support student decisions to avoid substance abuse. Kit Cummings, Founder of the Power in Peace Project, will be addressing the conference attendees as the keynote speaker.
