Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) is pleased to announce the addition of three new health professionals, joining the organization in the departments of dentistry, HIV/AIDS and pediatric care.
Dental Director Dr. Paul Waters will provide general dentistry services for children enrolled in Medicaid, PeachCare and children without dental coverage who need to be seen on a self-pay basis in the CDPH Dental Clinic. He has been in practice for over 30 years in Cobb County, having earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Emory University in 1984. He is well versed in all areas of general dentistry, from basic preventive care to complex restorative procedures. He is also committed to continuing education in order to always bring the most up-to-date services to his patients. Dr. Waters holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Georgia Northern District Dental Society, the Northside Dental Study Club, and the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society.
Yvonne L. Carter, MD, MPH, will serve as the medical director for patients living with HIV/AIDs enrolled in CDPH Ryan White services, and for patients undergoing treatment and follow-up for Tuberculosis. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology with honors from Xavier University in Louisiana, her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Maryland and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She is board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine, having completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and fellowship in infectious disease at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She comes to CDPH after serving as the infectious disease department director for Rural Health Group in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., where she provided care for patients living with HIV/AIDs. She has also held faculty positions with East Carolina University and the University of N.C. Dr. Carter currently serves as faculty trainer and presenter for the Alabama-North Carolina STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and Southeastern AIDS Training and Education Center.
Dr. Ann L. Contrucci, Pediatrician, will provide pediatric care for children enrolled in Medicaid, PeachCare, and private insurance as well as those who need to be seen on a self-pay basis. She has been a board certified pediatrician since 1996, having received her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with honors from the University of Georgia and her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed a pediatric internship and residency at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and after completion of her pediatric training she was in private practice before spending the last 14 years as an associate of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Associates, a group staffing the ER at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. Dr. Contrucci has been a member of several medical mission trips to Guatemala and Honduras, and frequently appears as a medical expert on HLN’s “Nancy Grace”.
