Dr. Jack Kennedy, District Health Director of Cobb & Douglas Public Health, was recognized as the 2014 Individual Health Hero for making a significant positive impact on the health of the Cobb community. The Cobb Chamber announced the award at its First Monday Breakfast, sponsored by WellStar, on Feb. 3 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
Dr. Kennedy was recognized for his 25+ year career in Cobb as a General Surgeon, Founding Board Chair for the Good Samaritan Health Clinic, as District Health Director with Cobb & Douglas Public Health, and most recently for the launch of the Cobb2020 Health Partnership. His influence extends far into the community, through quality patient care, advocacy for uninsured residents, and support of community partnerships, earning him this year’s Health Hero Award.
After receiving his award, Dr. Kennedy humbly voiced his appreciation for the recognition, noting, “Each employee of Cobb & Douglas Public Health and our community partners deserves a piece of this award. It is only through working together that we are able to make our local public health system better and improve the health status of our residents.”
The prestigious award, designed by Lillie Glassblowers, was presented to Dr. Kennedy by Dr. Cris Eaton-Welsh, the 2014 Chairwoman of the Health and Wellness Committee and last year’s Health Hero Award recipient.
