We Can! In Cobb Coalition is pleased to announce Powder Springs as a We Can! City.  We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition) is a national movement designed to give parents, caregivers, and entire communities with resources to help children 8 to 13-years-old stay at a healthy weight.

On September the 7, Powder Springs Mayor Patricia Vaughn signed a proclamation and a Letter of Commitment approving Powder Springs as a We Can! city!

This success will be celebrated with a We Can! Kick-Off event scheduled for Saturday, October 5 in Downtown Powder Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The We Can! In Cobb celebration will include physical activity for children, parents, and youth.  Nutritional demonstrations such as ants on a log for children will also be offered. Educational material on healthy living will be provided in both English and Spanish.

We Can! In Cobb is thrilled that Powder Springs is now known as a We Can! City,” commented Cobb & Douglas Public Health’s We Can! In Cobb Coalition Coordinator, Esther Ashford.  “This proclamation will help enhance the lives of families in the Powder Springs community by sending them a healthy message.”

We Can! In Cobb is registering volunteers to help anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Water and healthy snack donations are also being accepted.
