Cobb & Douglas Public Health, in partnership with the Live Healthy Douglas Coalition and several other community partners, is set to host the 13th annual Power in Truth conference on October 29, 2013. The conference is held in Douglasville each year, and is designed to empower Douglas County middle and high school students to resist underage drinking, tobacco use and all other substance abuse.
“Prevention is the primary focus, particularly for the youth audience, with emphasis on empowering youth to resist media manipulation and peer pressure,” commented Cathy Wendholt-McDade, District Healthy Behaviors Director with Cobb & Douglas Public Health.
The conference will be held at the First Baptist Church of Douglasville from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and is a Douglas County School approved field trip. The cost of the conference is free, but does require registration.
For more information or to register for the conference, contact Amy Benson, 678-385-1371 or ahoffman@dhr.state.ga.us.
